~~Primitive Gals, Are We~~

Oh Christmas Tree
Oh Christmas Tree
Much pleasure you do give me
Good morning friends,
a balmy day in Southwest Missouri
rain, mid 60's,  makes me smile this December.

10 days until Christmas ~wow~
Are we ready... yes, no,  almost!

Primitive Gals, Are We
Run here and there, oh dear, I fear
one more gift or maybe two,
finish that scarf for Auntie Sue.

I am finding the pattern is the same,
there is never enough time for creative minds.
We primitive gals are an ambitious lot
you will not find us lying on a sofa much.

Cutting and stuffing, painting and rusting;
 sanding all thru the night
that wooden shelf has to be just right.
Simply prim is what we do,
crafting lovely gifts for you.

 We primitive gals...
Brenda and Cathy, Gina and Tammy
Teresa and Robin, Pam and Annie
Tricia and Tonya, Connie  and Connie
If we seem a little frazzled
bare with  us,  we love the hassle.

Seasons come and seasons go
but that will never change our soul,
our passion is a Simpler Thyme
my Primitive world,
just mine.

 Simple Christmas trees
at the Cabin

Oh Christmas Tree
Oh Christmas Tree
Your branches are so lovely

Oh Christmas Tree
Oh Christmas Tree
Much pleasure you do give me
This year I brought back my white flocked tree,
these sweet paper silhouette's are lovely.
The dove was a gift from talented
Brenda ~~The Rusty Thimble

Kris Kringle Tree
Santa - sometimes called Kris Kringle
His merry eyes - oh how they twinkle
My simple Santa tree
quite primitive, oh how I love thee

Snowman Tree
One day I built a snowman
I built him out of snow,
You should have seen how fine he was
all white from top to toe.
Oh Snowman tree you make me smile
think I'll just sit and gaze for awhile.

Vintage Tree
Outside there's a pine tree
standing straight and tall
It needs no decorations
nature's done it all
Pine cone's on it's branches
Icicles glistening bright
Snow upon it's needles
where birds take rest at night

I see it from my window
and take the time to say
Thank you for your beauty
on this Christmas Day

Paper Ornament Tutorial
These were so simple and fun to make.
The silhouette's are printed on top of a music sheet.
I first printed the music sheet, put back into printer
then selected 9 wallets (per program)
printed on top of the music.
I used another music sheet for backing
These were printed on top of black script, I did not like it
as well as I liked the sheet music.
Next step: along the edge
tape front and back sheets together,
just need a little to hold in place while you sew.
Using my sewing machine I sewed around the sides
and bottoms of each wallet picture, do not sew the top.

Next step: cut each picture out, there will be a small
margin between each pic, be careful not to snip the stitches.
Next: I then stuffed each picture with a small amount
of fiberfill to give it dimension.

Next: Cut a 4 inch piece of lace or jute for hanger
insert into picture and then sew across the top.
I liked to set the ornaments into the branches but
with the hanger attached you can use these for tags.
Also can embellish as you wish,
add glitter around the edges, attach a rusty bell
I added silver snowflake brads to a few.

These ornaments would be perfect
done up with a burlap backing,
I will have to try this....

Note: Santa and colored images are not printed
on top of a music sheet, use plain paper!!
Stitch length was a 3 just slightly longer than normal,
and remember paper will dull your needle so change it out for fabric.
You can obtain the sheet music and lovely images from

Primitive Make Overs.....Candle Sconce

I had so much fun doing these make overs and just love their new  primitive look.  A huge thank you to Tonya  over at My Primitive Creations by Tonya.  This amazing, talented lady has been tutoring me on how to turn wood items into beautiful primitive treasures.  These candle scones are my first attempt.  Tonya has just posted a tutorial on her blog, detailed instructions on how to achieve this primitive look.  Thank you Tonya for sharing your knowledge.

Before Photos
Wood candle scones found at my fav flea market
Purchased 7 of them for 1.00 each

After Pics
Using Tonya's Priming method
I do need a little more practice on sanding the piece after it is painted.
I think I put too much paint on so therefore it took longer to
sand off the paint.  Also have to remember to sand
with the grain to achieve a natural look.  I got better at  it.....

I added a vintage table napkin to soften the look

Another sconce sits inside a primitive blue box
The flicker candle is placed behind the sconce
A cute grubby beeswax bunny in a jar lid

Fun Stuff
Fell in love with these blackened beeswax ornies
Purchased them off Ebay,  they smell so prim
Lamb with rusty bell
Another bunny in old jar lid

Table Display
Lovely Miss Swan perched in a dough bowl
.....Mr. Bunny decided to move it
Who are you

Paper mache rabbits hopped on over for a look see

Miss Whiskers looks a little lonely
Sitting all by herself in her crate

Who are you----Where did you come from

I'll share my carrot if you let me stay
Oh my, oh dear......OK

Thank you for visiting today
I have to get back to my sanding projects
